From the very beginning, raising money to give to the Dogs for the Deaf (DFD), Inc. was a top priority for our Chapter. Over the years, the Seahorses have given thousands of dollars to this worthwhile project. In 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 the Good Sam Seahorses were awarded the “Top Dog” donor banner for Florida . In 2006 and 2007, the Good Sam Seahorses was among the top 10 contributors in the nation.  In a picture on the wallpaper of our web site, you can see some of the banners proudly displayed at each campout along with our own banner.

Raising funds for the Dogs for the Deaf is not an easy project for the Seahorses as we are a small chapter. Fund raising is done only during our monthly campouts. We have raised our money by having spaghetti dinners, flea market sales, and brown-bag auctions, 50/50 contributions, sponsor participation in dog walks at rallies, personal donations, and pancake breakfasts. We have a lot of fun with our fundraisers, too; and have flipped and eaten hundreds of pancakes at our breakfasts over the years!

The Good Sam Seahorses are proud of our accomplishments. We are pleased to know that our donations have been instrumental in placing many a treasured dog in someone’s life. Our goal is to keep raising funds for this project, as we know the usefulness and joy a "Dogs for the Deaf" dog can bring into the life of their owners.
